Yay!
Unconventional materials challenge!
For this episode of Project Runway Teams the designers were asked to create looks which included materials from either a hardware store, a flower shop or both! I went with both. To add even more difficulty to it there was inspiration to be had in 1950's Dior fashion. Yippee... yea...
So let me break this down for you...

:bulletgreen:The choker is simply a Gerbera daisy and green ribbon that you can find at any flower shop.
:bulletgreen: The bodice is a bit more difficult. Over a layer of muslin is a structure of boning made from triple layer window blind slats which would be glued together with that wonderful liquid nails stuff and covered by a layer of screen wire: [link] That would then been covered with three different types of sunflower petals - traditional yellow, autumn beauty and the moulin rouge. A large ring of fire sunflower rests at the hip.
:bulletgreen: The skirt is made from a whole bunch of blank green signs [link]|1 that would be folded into a tear drop shape and held in place with thick balsa wood strips (balsa wood is REALLY light even when layered for thickness). A layer of window screen - yup same as above - would finish to "tunnel" up to where the wood would attach to more window blind slats that would be attached to an a-line skirt of muslin. Over the top of the window screen, which would have the ends frayed slightly, would be a layer of Spathiphyllum (Peace Lily) leaves [link]

So, um... yea. That's about it. ^.^' I REALLY like unconventional materials challenges. If you're curious about how I worked this all out, and to see what I cut out of the design, you can check out the thought process below.

Critique time!

I'm alll ovver this look, the amount of thought and detail that went into this look, wow! I lovveed how you used both the hardware and the flowers. The tear-drop shapes on the skirt was a seriously clever idea (my favorite part). My only concern is that this doesn't necessarily register to me as 1950s fashion (I see it, but it's not the first thing that pops into my head). Though how you even thought about the construction of the look is brownie points in my book. Overall, fantastic work!
